Isn’t Manifestation Just a Whole lot of Nonsense?

Manifestation has become a huge topic and consequently there are a lot of misunderstandings surrounding its use and efficacy. Manifestation techniques are assumed to work with little or no scientific evidence. And look, I am all for believing in things without evidence, as long as you are able to tune into your inner knowing. Your inner knowing or ‘intuition’ can be a powerful guide and discerning the difference between your emotions and inner knowing can take practice and refinement. I highly recommend meditation, as it helps you to know the difference. But I digress...

 

While manifestation techniques may not overtly express their scientific methods, there are actually powerful psychological reasons that manifestation techniques are effective in creating the life of your dreams.

 

Manifestation techniques often involve shifting mindset. Shifting mindset is not about self-deception (a common misunderstanding that can creep in). You do not have to lie to yourself about a situation that is unpleasant. But you can choose to view your situation differently. For example, I recently had a pinched nerve in my scapula. It was excruciatingly painful. I could have attempted to lie to myself while offering inner resistance (concern) towards my reality. I could have said something like, ‘My body feels amazing right now and I am perfectly well.’ This would have been an outright lie. This is not what shifting mindset is about.

 

Instead, I had to state truths to myself, go deeply into the pain, watch my breath and release inner resistance. I was then able to state, ‘My shoulder is painful right now but I know that the pain will pass in time. There is something here that needs to be healed and that’s okay. I am always growing and always healing. I feel so blessed that I have the opportunity to meditate right now. I am lucky that my shoulder is enabling me to surf! I feel so blessed. My shoulder is simply alerting me to an energetic block. It is serving me perfectly and it will heal in time, as I continue to go deeply within this space of meditation. I am truly appreciative of this healing process.’

 

In this example, as I shift my mindset, I am not deceiving myself but rather, I am looking for what already exists in my life experience that pleases me. I am releasing inner resistance and relaxing into the pain. As I do this, the pain eases and I notice more things to be pleased about. This is a technique called ‘reframing.’ As you practice reframing, you begin to see and look for things that are working out for you. Reframing can remedy psychological phenomenon such as deletions and distortions whereby you view your world through your past psychological conditioning and only see that which affirms your beliefs.

 

Manifestation techniques are about amplifying your good feelings and capitalising upon good-feeling thoughts. They are about being intensely present, tapping into the essence of what you want your manifestation to feel like and allowing those feelings to come into your experience now. You only want your manifestation because you believe that having it will make you feel good. Manifestation techniques are designed to help you feel good now. Anything that you can utilise now to help you tap into the essence of how you wish to feel when your dreams have come true, will be a powerful manifestation tool. Why?

 

Have you ever noticed that when you’re in a bad mood you can’t recall what it was like to feel good? And have you ever noticed how when that mood has passed and you’re feeling amazing, you can’t even fathom that something was ever bothering you? This is because you’re tuned into a different frequency. This is how deletions and distortions operate. You will notice things to affirm your beliefs. For example, if you believe that people are mostly inconsiderate, this is what you will give your attention to. But if you believe that people are kind, you will give more of your attention to the kind and benevolent behaviours that are occurring around you.

 

This is how manifestation works. When you pay attention to how you are feeling and when you take the time to feel good, what notice in your world will shift. Sometimes, even the exact same situation will take on a different meaning. For example, that person who ‘always’ annoys you, won’t seem so annoying anymore. Why? You will be looking for things to appreciate about them. Maybe you won’t offer inner resistance to them anymore and they will sense this, as you will offer up subtle body-language cues to show them you have softened towards them. They will then rendezvous with you in a different way. Maybe you won’t feel the need to compete with them in conversation anymore and will just listen and so, you enjoy your interaction more. If you become still and listen then perhaps you will learn something about them to offer an insight into why they’re so annoying, such as, they suffer from social anxiety. Perhaps you will feel compassion for them instead. Perhaps your heart will open and you will feel blessed to have bridged the gap between you. From that space of compassion, it is possible that you will sense your oneness with all other beings and the annoyance will become null and void.  

 

Manifestation is about taking the time to notice how you feel and to notice your beliefs. Once you have this invaluable intel, you can use it to shift your perspective using true statements that reflect your preferred view of the world. Manifestation techniques are about amplifying the positive feelings you wish to feel, tapping into the essence of what you wish to manifest and then noticing the things around you that please you. You will be viewing the exact same world but through different filters. And then you will notice and capitalise upon opportunities, you will draw the best out of people, your timing will be impeccable and yet, nothing has changed. Only you have changed and your world can shift powerfully to mirror this.
